Douglas B. Keane is a partner at Boggs, Avellino, Lach & Boggs, LLC. He received his Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration from Western Illinois University in 2002. Mr. Keane received his J.D. from the Southern Illinois University School of Law in 2005. During law school he was a member of Phi Alpha Delta. He also served as a member and an Articles Editor for the Southern Illinois University Law Journal.
Mr. Keane is licensed to practice in the State of Missouri including the United States District Courts of the Eastern and Western Districts. He is also licensed to practice in the State of Illinois including the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois. He concentrates his practice in premises liability, employment and insurance defense. He has successfully defended personal injury cases before juries in Illinois and Missouri.
Mr. Keane co-authored an article that was published in the November 2005 edition of the Illinois Bar Journal titled "Don't Let the Open-and-Obvious 'Distraction' Exception Swallow the Rule." The article discusses the history of the Open and Obvious Doctrine and argues that the distraction exception has been excessively applied, thus resulting in an impermissible expansion in landowner liability.
